So I received an invite to a petition

So today on <social networking site>, I get this invitation to sign a petition….

First off it’s to oppose a proposed law in Maryland, which I’ve never even visited, nor do I know the laws of Maryland. Second, it’s a proposed law that will expand the definitions of nursing in order to prevent unlicensed individuals from practicing healthcare and nursing.

The petition is saying it’s going to prevent all sorts of things because of how loose the definitions are, for example “Assisting in rehabilitation.” So of course, this petition is saying “OMG they’re going to make it illegal for yoga instructors and meditation instructors to help injured people" because with their logic, they’re helping them rehabilitate, and heal, and etc etc etc.

I’m pretty sure the law is attempting to prevent ACTUAL unlicensed health care (for example a back-alley chiropractor) and wouldn’t even take the time to go after a yoga/taichi/zen instructor. I mean seriously, if the definitions are loose, then they’ll interpret them loosely. It’s hilarious because the super liberals are just as bad as the super conservatives when it comes to freaking out about things and calling everything a slippery slope.

Liberal:  “OMG theyre going to make feng-shui illegal because it aids in health care!”
Conservative: “OMG they’re going to let illegals run rampant and take all of our executive jobs!”

Both of them....dumbasses.
